Born in the shadow of New York City, Stephan Stanzione grew up immersed in percussion, studying under renowned instructors Frank BeLucci and Dan Aviles while earning three perfect NYSSMA scores and a place in the New York All-State Orchestra. At the same time, he was cutting his teeth in New York City’s clubs and venues, where he developed the high-energy style and showmanship that now define his career. That balance of formal training and raw live experience has made him a standout performer, with his drum content connecting to millions online and his reputation growing as both a powerhouse player and magnetic presence behind the kit.
As drummer for the alternative rock band Saint Slumber, Stephan shared stages with acts like 30 Seconds to Mars, AJR, and Chvrches, while the band’s music collected more than 20 million streams and key placements on Spotify editorial playlists. He has also recorded at world-class studios including Blackbird Studios and Cove City Sound Studios, working with artists from Aliana Lohan to Tatiana Demaria. His touring résumé began to expand when he hit the road with as drummer and music director for Devora supporting English rock legends Bush, and soon after he did the same for Tyler Hilton (One Tree Hill), touring extensively across the U.S., Canada, and Australia.
Now serving as drummer and music director for MKTO, Stephan is helping drive the duo’s comeback. Their smash hit “Classic” has surpassed 1.6 billion Spotify streams, and their return has already seen them perform alongside icons like Lynyrd Skynyrd, with international shows including Australia ahead. From orchestral halls to arena stages, Stephan Stanzione continues to shape his career with a mix of technical precision, adaptability, and a relentless passion for bringing music to life.
